Mr. Jon Heder

Here's a little on Jon Heder. Sure, sure, nothing too exciting or new. But I still thought it was interesting.

Uni cranks up 'Machine' for Grazer, Heder

By Borys Kit

Universal Pictures has picked up "Mr. Machine," a high-concept family comedy pitch by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer will produce, while Jon Heder and his brothers Dan and Doug are in negotiations to executive produce via their Greasy Entertainment banner.

"Machine," described as a throwback to the high-concept Amblin family comedies of the 1980s, revolves around three brainy slackers who build a robot that wants to take over the world.

Universal Pictures vp production Scott Bernstein and creative executive David Ortiz will oversee the project for the studio. David Bernardi will oversee the project for Imagine.

"Machine" marks the first project Greasy has brought in since signing its first-look deal in January. It will not be a starring vehicle for Jon Heder, who next stars in "School for Scoundrels." Greasy is repped by CAA and Mosaic Media.

Imagine is in preproduction on "American Gangster," directed by Ridley Scott and starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

Green is best known for writing and directing "George Washington" and "All the Real Girls." His next effort is "Snow Angels," starring Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell. McBride co-wrote with Green the comedy "Nerd Camp" for Universal and the Bubba Stewart biopic for Cruise/Wagner Prods.

Green and McBride are repped by CAA and Gotham Group.
