Well, without Synonyms the English language could get pretty boring pretty fast. Imagine a world with only one word for irritated. We’d have thousands of inner city drivers shaking their fists at one another saying how irritated they were with one another. I know as someone who takes a lot of cab rides that my commute to the office would be much less entertaining. Who doesn’t love to hear a few curse words in a foreign language? What would happen if there was only one swear word my Asian cab drier could chose from to curse out the cyclist who just spit on his hood? No, synonyms are the spice of life. Without them the world would be a newspaper: filled with rigid text in black and white. I personally enjoy knowing that when my garbage man purposely dumps my recyclable cans and doesn’t clean them up that I can belittle him without himunderstanding.
