Job Placement after Training

Its a familiar dilemma with any sort of professional training or education: How does one translate what theyve learned into actual employment and experience in the field?? When people talk about the Catch-22 of employment and experience, it is precisely this that they are referring to. It can be a frustrating affair knowing that you are as qualified for employment as anybody else in the industry and yet being unable to procure steady employment.

While this problem exists even in the construction industry, we at the National Heavy Equipment Operators School take every possible step to assure you that you will not have to succumb to it. For starters, the training program at National is second to none; ours is a comprehensive two-part course that covers a wide variety of heavy equipment models and gives you the preparation and knowledge to operate them effectively. Additionally, National is the only accredited heavy equipment training facility in the United States. This means that a certificate of completion from National carries with it a certain weight; employers are familiar with and respectful of the heavy equipment training that National provides.

National is also intricately involved in the construction and heavy equipment industry, and thus we are able to assist our graduates in finding immediate employment far more effectively than other agencies or programs. Upon starting the resident portion of our heavy equipment-training program, students fill out pre-hire applications and have them distributed to their employers of choice while they are still training. Construction opportunities are abundant throughout the nation, from urban construction to rural highway renovation. National has ties to numerous companies and agencies across the United States, and we can help you find the best employment fit once you complete your training.

Once National helps you to get your foot in the door in the construction industry, you can rest assured that employment opportunities will be steady for the foreseeable future. Conservative estimates have the visible construction boom holding steady until at least 2012, and given the seemingly endless number of construction projects visible throughout any metropolitan or rural area, it is likely to persist for much longer. When you consider that heavy equipment operators accounted for roughly ten percent of the approximately 6.7 million construction-related jobs in 2002, the importance of adequate training and job placement becomes even more evident. The program at National Heavy Equipment Operators School is just what you need to assure you of your future financial stability.

Night In Satun

My Mercedes is waiting. The sun beams diffusely down through the moisture laden air causing beads of sweat to drip continuously on my already drenched t-shirt. I am going to Satun and the Mercedes is a classic well kept 1962 model. In fact there is a whole fleet of Mercedes waiting to take tourist to Satun from Hai Jai in Southern Thailand. They are all black with an exaggerated curved body indicative of automobiles of the late 50s. And believe it or not, they still retain the comfort that Mercedes is famous for.

The year is 1998 and I am going to the Andaman Sea in the Straits of Malacca. There I will plant myself for two weeks on one of the many somewhat deserted islands that dot this reclusive part of the world. A world inhabited by pirates and honeymooners in the Koh Tarutao National Park system in the very south of Southern Thailand.

Which island I am going to, I dont know, but I am not the only one. Sharing my taxi ride is a young couple in love from Germany and a family from Thailand, husband and wife with their 5 year old son.

It takes about twenty minutes for the taxi driver to stuff everyones belongings into the trunk. I have made substantial purchases of deliciously fresh dried fruits and filled my water container with pomegranate juice from one of the made for tourist vendors surrounding the taxi. We squeeze into tightly together; the family and myself in the rear of the taxi and the couple from Germany in the front and prepare for a long and fascinating journey.

Are you comfortable the driver asks in broken English.
I answer like an excited kid, Lets get this rocket rolling.

My feelings were of excitement and anticipation and I dont know why I said such a strange thing. No one else said anything and I felt as if my words were still echoing in the silence minutes later. But no matter, here I am in the middle of the world, on an adventure that relatively few have gone before.

The journey takes 3 hours of driving through exotic and undeveloped country side; incidentally through a warm and friendly Islamic side of Thailand. At one point we passed two foreigners on bicycles pedaling in racing uniforms. Later they caught up to us in some remote village on the way as we were stopping for refreshment. They came up next to our taxi and said with a heavy European accent hello? I answered, Wow! I cant believe this! What are you doing way out here in the middle of nowhere on bicycles?

The young man in his twenties answered, We are traveling around the world. We are on our way to Indonesia. The other couple traveling in the taxi with me immediately took notice and a very long and interesting conversation ensues between all of us.

It turns out that the bicyclists are a married couple and the last county they pedaled through was Myanmar. After Indonesia, they planned to cycle the islands of Hawaii and then to Mainland USA.

To this day I still have dreams of that encounter and the miraculous and dangerous journey they were taking. I have never heard of them since and have no idea what became of them.

Before we know it, the taxi driver is honking his horn for us to return and we are saying our goodbyes to this marvelous couple. We pile into the taxi for the last leg of our journey. Looking out the window we pass fields of coconut palms, women balancing wood or foods in baskets on their heads wearing colorful loose clothing down to their feet. The homes we pass by are often made of palm frawns or a patchwork of wood and debris. And in the fields are men and women, young and old with their ox and children tilling vegetables in the same way at their ancestors have done for thousands of years.

Finally we reach Satun. I dont know what to expect. The town is about two blocks long; a fishing village whose main street leads right to the ocean. There fishing boats made of old rotting lumber wait to take us to one of the many islands we will now select in the many makeshift tourist offices that line the street.

Each old rickety tourist office has pictures of the islands they offer and provide for a fee, the means to get their. And if you are uninformed, you will pay in advance for you accommodations. Something better to do when you arrive on the island. Occasionally an owner of one of these offices tries to get us inside by enticing us with words like beautiful, exotic, cheap We all walk down the main avenue looking and asking questions until each of us select our travel destination destiny.

I study all the pictures from all the offices of all the islands carefully and I choose Langkawi only 5 kilometers away from the southern tip of Tarutao Island. I pay the equivalent of approximately $7 for a round trip boat ticket and I am then led to one of the boats. The boat can fit about 4 people and sits low to the water. There is single engine propeller that is barely hangs attached to the rear of the craft. I wait about 15 minutes before we begin our three hour journey through rough and dangerous seas to the somewhat deserted and exotic island of Langkawi…

My days on the island with boa constrictors, pirates, a lost tribe of Islamic fishermen, my isolated beach cottage right on my own private beach, the couple isolated on the other side of the island studying esoteric Buddhism, the small exotic caf serving daily fresh fish from the sea, the many tourist from Europe that came and went, lightening in the sky on a clear day and the marvelous skin diving in clear deep tropical sears are topics I will discuss in my next article. Stay turned.

Hair care tips and more…

An ideal woman is often pictured to be a person with a slender figure with long hair. Hair has always been important for every woman because it somehow reflects their personality. Having long shiny hair can seduce a man, it can land a woman in a shampoo commercial, or get compliments from others. It can reflect a woman’s health and gives an impression that she is healthy, and that she is taking good care of herself. Of course, not all women would want long hair. It depends on their character, the weather, their lifestyle, and so on.

The Five Biggest Mistakes Students Make When Choosing a College

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:25 pm

Okay, you’re a senior and getting ready to apply to colleges, but the question is which colleges? Some students begin thinking about colleges their sophomore year, but most students avoid the topic until the last minute. Remember, it’s never too late to come up with a good college list.

Unless you’re a glutton for punishment, you’ll probably apply to no more than 10 or 12 colleges. How are you going to come up with that list? Which colleges fit you are as a person and student? How do you avoid the five biggest mistakes students make in choosing colleges? Here they are:

1) Not doing any research on yourself

The place to start a college search process is determining who you are and what you need in a college. What kind of college do you want to attend? Big, medium-sized or small? Is it important for you to be in a particular kind of setting, e.g., in a city, college town or rural area? Do you want to be in an academically demanding environment and one that’s laid-back? What kind of students do you want to be with? People like you or a very diverse group, including international students?

2) Not doing research about colleges

So how do you get quality information about colleges? There are a number of ways. First, there are the excellent college guidebooks such as The Fiske Guide to Colleges, The Insider’s Guide to the Colleges and Colleges That Change Lives that provide information about colleges from a student’s perspective. You might also talk to people you trust–parents, your counselor, teachers, and students from your high school who are now at different colleges–about which colleges they recommend. Attending different college fairs where admissions representatives come to talk about their colleges is a particularly good source. And, of course, there are online resources such as the Internet college searches. From your research, come up with a list; check out what the GPA and test scores stats are for the colleges and how they match yours.

3) Being too scared to take a chance

Sometimes students underestimate their chances for college acceptance, particularly if they have a learning disability. Know that colleges are very sympathetic to students who have learning issues and often are forgiving of less than stellar grades and test scores. Students who are gifted athletes and/or have special talents sometimes don’t realize how interested colleges might be in them. Be smart in putting together your college list by applying to an equal number of Reach schools (where you have a 25% chance of being accepted), Good Chance schools (where you have a 50% or better chance of being accepted) and Pretty Sure thing schools (where you have a 75% or better chance of getting in). A good college list includes a range of college choices, but every one should be a school that you would like to attend. Finally, some students are afraid to be away from their friends, family or even their hometown. Most students usually go through some form of homesickness during their freshman year. The better you do your homework about colleges, the less chance there is of homesickness being a real issue.

4) Being too arrogant

Some students who have stellar academic records and strong test scores confine themselves to applying to a handful of the most selective colleges. They leave Good Chance and Pretty Sure Thing schools off their lists. This is a big mistake and a kind of admissions arrogance or naïveté. There are plenty of documented cases where 4.5 GPA/2340 test score applicants are turned down by colleges. Colleges and universities are very idiosyncratic in terms of whom they choose. Therefore, it’s really important that you select a series of schools that offer the characteristics you want, including some that may not be highly selective. The worse outcome is to wind up not being accepted to any of the colleges that you applied to because all of them were Reaches. With careful planning, that doesn’t need to happen.

5) Being too Lazy

Applying to colleges these days is not easy. It takes a good deal of research to determine how your personal characteristics and individual colleges match. After you have a good college list, you need to spend time completing the applications in a way that maximizes your opportunities. Keep in mind that college applications that are a little better and a little different than the competition’s are the ones that end up being the most successful.

Finding which colleges to apply to can seem like an overwhelming task. By avoiding the five biggest mistakes you can increase the chances of having many colleges accept you.

A Guide to Buying Pet Products

Facts about pets

Australian families who share their homes with pets number among the highest in the world, with 64% of households including pets. In those 7.5 million households, fish top the pet population at over 12 million, followed by birds, at 9 million. At almost 4 million, there are more dogs than either boys or girls under the age of 14 years, and our domestic cat population is approximately two and a half million. If we group horse for pleasure riding, rodents, rabbits, snakes, lizards and others together, we can add another 2 million pets.

Pet Supplies Pet association has been shown to have enormous positive benefits on health and wellbeing of Australians. When you have a pet as a member of your family, you will visit the doctor less frequently and use less medication, have lower cholesterol and lower blood pressure, recover from illness and surgery more rapidly, deal with stress better and be less likely to feel lonely. All in all, it is estimated that pet association saves the Australian health budget almost S4 billion annually.

Around 90% of Australian familles with pets, consider those pets as fully integrated family members and the primary caregiver who assumes responsibility for the pet in the majority of situations is female. Not surprisingly, expenditure on pets, pet care and pet products in Australia is placed at more than $4 billion annually and provides employment for more than 40,000 people. Of this expenditure, two thirds (66%) is spent on dogs and one quarter (25%) is spent on cats. Dogs therefore get the greater amount of attention in pet world.

Care and grooming products

Caring for pets requires time and energy on the part of the caregiver. In today’s busy world, time is a commodity in shorter supply than perhaps it once was. There are a lot of products available to help reduce the amount of time needed for pet care. Search Myshopping.com.au for pet care products for your particular animal.

There are automatic feeding and watering products that mean your animal can access food and water when they need it and don’t have to depend on you being there to attend to it. Having water readily available for dogs and cats is important because they dehydrate more quickly than humans. Automated pet feeders not only reduce the chore of being there to provide meals for your pets, but add the convenience of timing food releases for animals that may be subject to particular dietary needs. Using an elevated pet feeder can aid your pet’s digestion because the pet doesn’t have to strain and bend over to access the food. Portable watering and feeding products are useful for those who take their pets with them at work or on the move, and include drinking pouches and feedbags for dogs and cats.

The need to groom your pet depends a lot on your living environment, and whether (or how much) your pet is an indoor or outdoor pet. Grooming could be a daily, weekly or occasionally scheduled activity, and is necessary to keep the animal’s coat healthy and to eradicate fleas and other parasites. It is also important to keep dander in check. Grooming products for pets include products for coat maintenance, nail clipping, dental care, bathing and beauty. There is a huge range of shampoos, face washes, and deodorisers and skin care products as well as styling tools and bows and ribbons for beautification. Grooming tools you may require could include a grooming table, heated blower-dryer, combs, rakes and brushes. As well as nail files and clippers.

Accommodation and transport products

As we cram ourselves into smaller and smaller living spaces, we have a need to accommodate our pets in the most comfortable manner. There is a huge range of bedding, mat and cushion products for dogs and cats, as well as cages and aquariums for birds and fish. (Aquariums are also available for hermit crabs and snails). Small ‘housing’ products such as indoor and outdoor kennels and sleeping tents and bags come in a variety of sizes and styles to suit all kinds of living environments. Rugs and shelters are also important for keeping your pets warm during cold weather, and insulated or shaded shelters are important during warmer weather. Pet that suffer from arthritis can benefit from pet warming pads, while animals that have motor disabilities can benefit from special ramps and steps that aid them in their mobility.

As a large proportion of pet owners like to travel with their pets in cars or on bicycles, there are a large number of travelling options, including specially designed car seats, harness and soft cages. Some car seats double as a travel suitcase to carry your pet’s travel needs or as a bed for a comfortable night’s sleep. For the cyclist, there is a range of pet bicycle baskets available with different safety and security features.

One of the reasons that pets help foster better health is due to the time we spend walking, running or playing with them. Searching Myshopping.com.au for leads and collars will yield a tremendous variety of products. Leads that you can belt around your waist give you ‘hands-free’ control of your dog while you walk or jog freely. Collars not only provide a way to carry your animal’s registration tags, but also provide a unique identity for your pet. If your pet is small or has a disability, you can get a pet stroller or a pocket pouch to walk or carry your pet.

Safe and secure enclosures can keep pets from wandering off, while giving them an outdoor experience. Safety pet fences or cat fences are wire mesh enclosures that can be used in backyards or on balconies to keep you pet safe while giving tem the ability to stretch in the fresh air. Portable soft pens, many of which can be coupled together to enclose a larger area, are ideal for containing a pet indoors or blocking off an entrance.

Safety products and toys

There are occasions when both pets and humans need to be kept safe from each other and from other dangers in the home and neighbourhood. These can include muzzles and safety restraints, as well as steps and life preservers to use in shimming pools and at beaches. The elderly pet may need special pet stairs or slings to help with mobility, or a brace that acts as a support crutch.

There is no shortage of toys for your pet available through Myshopping.com.au and may include scratching posts and tunnels for your cat; Frisbees, balls and bones for your dog, mirrors and balls for your birds, racing tracks for rodents. You can even find the more unusual toys along with training devices; clothing articles and pampering products here on Myshopping.com.au just click and search.

Holmes on trial!

Imagine a football star, 22 years old, with all the success ahead of him, on the verge of fulfilling his dreams of turning into a recognized star and now being involved in legal problems. What a way to screw up!

Santonio Holmes the first round draft choice of Pittsburg Steelers was ordered to stand trial next August 15. The reason is for stemming charges on assault and domestic violence incident which supposedly happened in June 19 concerning the mother of his five months year old baby.

Michael Brandt, Columbus Municipal Court Judge, set the date even when the victim is refusing to testify against Holmes, despite the situation the woman does not want to proceed with the charges. Holmes paid a $3.500 bond to remain free.

The worst thing for the player is that if the trials date remains, Holmes will be forced to leave the Steelers less than 3 weeks into his first NFL training camp.

But this is not the only case that involves Holmes and the law. He also has a hearing next Wednesday in Miami Beach for charges on disorderly conduct as a result of his arrest on Memorial Day weekend. This kind of behavior makes Holmes reputation to fall down and to be in real problems with the NFL, it could bring sanctions before he ever plays his first regular-season game.

Most people know how important is for a lot of college players to be picked up in a NFL draft, it can be the highest dream to reach for them on their careers, and the question remains why some players do not take advantage of this kind of opportunities?

Skate Bored?

Though skateboards were around in the early 50′s and 60′s and actually very widely used back then they weren’t well made and so eventually died out. The early ones were basically just milk crates with roller skate wheels and maybe a handle. More like a scooter. The wheels were the big problem, being mostly of clay, and resulted in lots of accidents from slipping or breaking and causing a fall. Even with better boards the wheels still created difficulty, and the sport pretty well died out in the mid-60′s.

It wasn’t until the 1970′s that Frank Nasworthy, a surfer, developed a wheel made from urethane and then added precision bearings, and bolted them to a good quality board. The sport took off again.

The first skateboard parks from that time were mainly empty pools but lots of great moves and jumps were developed during that time, including the famous “ollie”, a no hands aerial. Accidents and then the ever-increasing liability insurance killed the sport a second time and by the 1980′s most of the parks had closed down.

In the 1990′s the sport regained popularity and though it has had some fluctuations since it has mainly grown and developed over the past few decades.

Over the years I’ve often heard it said that this sport wouldn’t last. It was just a fad. But it has developed from an activity into a relevant sport and now is widely followed around the world. The focus on tricks and jumps, great artwork on boards, clothing lines, shoes, skateboard posters, and even music has enhanced the image.

Throughout these years there have been increases in the quality of boards and wheels but mainly the concept didn’t change much, until now. Coming up are some radical new designs. The S-Board is a board that twists in the middle and has only a single front and single rear wheel. The ride is apparently very much like snowboarding.

Then there’s the Australian Bushpig, motorized skateboard (sort of), that does 20mph. Gotta get me one of those.

And the ultimate so far? That has to be Danny Way and his jump over the Great Wall of China. I wonder if his jump could be seen from space? hmmmm.

Balance Your Life With Stress Relief Techniques

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 7:14 am

Nothing is permanent in this world except change. And since any sort of change causes stress, then, people should just accept that stress is a fact of life that we all have to live with. But what exactly is stress? Stress is a psychological and physiological response to events that upset our personal balance in some way. There is good stress and bad stress. Good stress gives you the motivation to do your best when cramming for exams, or preparing for a job presentation. However, when things get out of hand and life’s demands exceed your ability to cope, stress becomes bad for your physical, emotional and psychological well-being.

Top Ten Reasons To Hire A Personal Coach

Have you considered hiring a personal coach? Jack Canfield, in The Success Principles says hiring a “personal coach is one of the best-kept secrets of the successful.”

1. A coach can help you clarify your vision and goals. If you have a sense that what you are doing isnt the thing you really want for your life but you dont have a clear vision of what you do want, then a coach can help you get clear.

2. A coach can support you through your difficult times. Sometimes, we just need someone to talk to who isnt too busy, too distracted or too involved to just objectively support us when times are tough. If you feel you just need someone to talk to who understands and doesnt judge you, then a coach can help.

3. A coach can help you develop momentum. How many times have you started something, felt good about it but then lost interest, never to return to it again? A coach can help you sustain that momentum and keep you focused on the prize. This is similar to hiring a personal trainer to help you sustain the momentum of exercising when you feel like doing something else.

4. A coach can help you stay on track and be focused. Have you ever let the little, unimportant things take control of your day and by the time the day ends, you realize you havent accomplished anything you were hoping to accomplish? A coach can help you stay focused on the important things while learning to delegate or dump the unimportant things.

5. A coach can help you take an objective look at exactly what you have been doing. A good coach will ask you to take a close, and sometimes painful, look at what you say you want as compared to the things you are actually doing. Do you see a match? If you continue to do things the way you are, will you get to the place you are hoping to get to? Coaches ask the hard questions.

6. A coach may help you identify both effective and destructive behavior patterns that you may not see. Since the coach isnt standing in the forest, he can typically see the trees that you dont. How often do we continue the same destructive patterns over and over again just because we cant identify them? A coach will help you see this more clearly.

7. A coach will hold you accountable for the goals you set. A coach is not a babysitter. When you decide you want to get going and accomplish some things in your life, a coach will not accept your excuses for why it wasnt done. Making a public declaration of your intent will also provide you with the needed incentive to keep your commitments.

8. A coach can show you how to accomplish more by working less. Coaches are adept at teaching time-tested systems for being more productive. Did you know that research shows that the average 8-hour-a-day worker is only productive for 1-2 hours a day? A coach can help you be more productive in less time.

9. A coach can help you discover your true passion. Do you ever wonder about your unique abilities and what your life purpose is? If these are not questions that you even think about, then you really DO need a coach! We all have unique abilities and a purpose but some of us never discover them and the rest of us who do are too afraid to just go for it! A coach can help you uncover your passion—the thing that will make you excited to get out of bed in the morning.

10. A coach can help you identify your core values and show you how to live in synergy with them. The values by which we live our lives are very important to each of us. Many times, certain values we hold may be in conflict with each other. Sometimes, we are not even consciously aware of the values of importance to us. A coach can help us to live our lives in accordance with our values. This will provide the kind of life of which you can be proud.

This is not a plea for you to hire me, necessarily, although I would be willing to discuss that possibility. What I am suggesting is that you will be able to do more than you could ever have imagined with a coach than without one.

I know. After I left my 9 to 5 job to begin my coaching career, I floundered around for six months. I knew I wanted to hire a coach, but I thought I couldn’t really afford one and I didn’t want to hire just anybody. I thought there needed to be a good match between us.

I now am employing two coaches—one to help me build my business and the other to help me write my book. Since hiring them, I am on a path creating more momentum as I go. In hindsight, I realize I couldn’t afford not to hire a coach.

Regarding the right match, I do believe that this is important which is why I’m saying this is not an appeal for you to hire me. If you are serious about taking your life to the next level, then find the coach who is right for you. But don’t delay. Once this day is gone, you cannot get it back.

If you are serious about taking your life to the next level, hire a personal coach. A coach can help you realize your visions and goals.

Body cleansing is beneficial to us all. In todays world, we live on the run. We grab a quick bite to eat at a fast-food restaurant or pack a microwavable meal in the lunchbox. Anything that is fast and easy. We live in a world filled with exhaust from vehicles and second-hand smoke. We breathe in the particles left behind in the air. We cant see them, so we dont worry about them. But the fact is toxins are slowing our bodies down. We may notice we feel a little under the weather, perhaps a little constipated or just sluggish. But what do the majority of the people do about this? Nothing. It does not have to be this way, however. If you want to improve your bodys overall health, you want to try body cleansing.

Body cleansing itself can be broken down into many areas. The following are different types of body cleansing you can do to help improve your bodys health.

Body Cleansing Colon

This type of body cleansing is one of the most common. As toxins build up in your body, the colon may not remove them completely. This can cause constipation, diarrhea, nausea, sluggishness, and an overall feeling of not feeling well. While many individuals feel they do not have any problems with their digestive system, it is important to remember that if you dont have a bowel movement at least two or three times in a day, your digestive system is not working properly. Many health practitioners will ask you to check your bowels by eating corn. You can track it by eating the corn and then observing how long it takes for it to show up in your bowel movements. If it takes longer than a four to five hours, your bowels are sluggish and you could benefit from this type of body cleansing.

Body Cleansing Kidney

Your kidneys are one of the most important in your system and if not working properly, it can cause pain and possible inflammation and infection. The kidneys are designed to eliminate waste from your body, including toxins. If your kidneys are unhealthy, the rest of your body will be, as well. This manner of body cleansing is very easy to do and one that you will find very beneficial.

Body Cleansing Liver

The liver is the organ in your body that has numerous functions to improve your health, including drug detoxification and the production of bile. If your liver is not functioning to its capacity, you may feel nauseated, fatigue, have a jaundice color to the skin and eyes, as well as having dark urine. Body cleansing will help you to get your liver back in top-notch condition.

Body Cleansing Gall Bladder

The gall bladder is the organ in the body that provides bile to the digestive system. This bile is used to emulsify fats and oils in the stomach. Sediments left behind can turn into gall bladder stones. If you have a build up of sediment in the gall bladder you may be experiencing excessive indigestion, flatulence, or pain in your lower right ribs. This body cleansing, however, should only be done under the supervision of a health practitioner as you will need to be careful not to damage your gall bladder.

The fact is body cleansing is simply a method for getting your body in working order again. Each day we consume a variety of toxins, whether as preservatives in the food we eat or particles in the air in which we breath. Try body cleansing today to help your body function properly.

Digital Projector Give A Bigger Picture

Digital projectors are those video projectors which are used in conferences for presentations. The digital projectors receive video signals from, usually, desktop computers and display images on large screens which can be easily comprehended by all in the gathering.

Two Types of Digital Projectors
To begin with, there are two technologies used by digital projectors, the older one being the LCD, liquid crystal display with independent transparent panels of LCD for each constituent primary color (red, blue and green.) The image transmission depends on the signal received by the projector from PC which redirects the light signals through these LCD panels and lens onto a screen. The LCD projectors look pretty similar to older slide projectors and are simple in construction and thus cost less in comparison to their successors DLP projectors. The LCD can be thought of as slides placed at the focal length of the lens making it complete. Clarity of picture in LCD projectors depends on the number of pixels it is set for. (Pixels are smallest area of data or picture holders)

DLP Projectors: The Latest of the Digital Projectors
Digital
Light Processing or DLP is a technology developed by Texas Instruments in 1987. DLP projectors bring in a paradigm difference in technology in image projection to board rooms. Unlike their predecessors, DLP projectors make use of tiny mirrors or micro mirrors to reflect light images to pass through the projector lens and onto a screen. Each mirror can be thought of as representing a pixel. The mirrors reflect primary colors in rapidly rotating succession as actuated by a rotating color filter wheel. The image of rapidly changing colors constructs images for human eye perception. The micro mirrors are collectively called as DMD or digital micromirror device.

For the sake of enhancing picture clarity, the rotating wheel is provided with a plain patch which allows plain white light. This type of DMD projectors are also known as single chip projectors. The three chip projectors are a bit complicated but offer better clarity. Here a prism splits the light from lamp into primary colors which are redirected to DMD which recombines them before projecting through the lens.

Where Is the Difference
DLP projectors are lighter and give far better pictures. Single chip resolves 16.7 colors while the three chip model does a, hold your breath, 35 trillion colors.

Commercial Models
Texas Instruments is the pioneer who owns the patent for DLP technology. Fraunhofer Institute of Dresden of Germany developed the same technology simultaneously and markets it as Spatial Light Modulators. HP, Samsung are other market leaders in both LCD and DLP technologies.

Typically though retail stores will offer limited styles of smaller desktop and travel humidors. There are also stores that specialize in humidors and cigars that offer upgraded models of humidors and may even offer specials on cabinet humidors.

However, the prices one may pay at a specialty store will likely be more than what one will find on the Internet for comparable items. The Internet is a great place for researching and purchasing humidors of all styles, brands, and models. There is no limit to what one can find except for where imagination ends.

Gearing Up For Ice Hockey

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:11 pm

If you are ready to hit the ice and start playing ice hockey you need to know about the basic equipment that is essential to your game. The very basics include your stick, your skates, pucks and protective gear. There are different types of equipment for hockey which you can choose based on your preferences. Starting out, it is a good idea to buy used or at least inexpensive equipment until you discover your personal preferences.

When choosing a hockey stick, your height needs to be considered. If the stick is too long or too short, you will put unnecessary stress on your body when trying to use it and your performance in the game will be affected as well. If you visit a hockey equipment shop, the experts there can help you to determine what type of stick is best for you.

Buying skates for hockey is the easy part. When you purchase skates make sure that they fit well and have sufficient support for your ankles so you wont easily sustain injuries or rub blisters on your feet. Pucks arent really anything special although you may find that you favor one style or brand over another. They are relatively inexpensive, so trying different types of pucks shouldnt be a problem.

For protective gear you definitely need a well-fitted helmet with a mouth guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads and knee pads. A jockstrap and protective cup is also fundamental for your protection in the game of hockey. Protective girdles that cover the main part of your body are also a good idea as are hockey gloves. Neck protectors are also available for hockey players.

When you are dressed out in your hockey gear you should be protected, but sometimes protective clothing feels uncomfortable and some types may interfere with your mobility. If you feel like you cant move you might want to try different types of protective gear, but for your safety, dont give it up entirely. Unnecessary injuries can be prevented by using protective gear. Youll eventually find the right mix of equipment, clothing and gear that will make you feel both comfortable and safe on the ice. As you get more familiar with the game and what it entails, you have a better idea of what you like and dont like and youll be able to select higher quality gear that suits your needs and preferences for the game of hockey.

Tips For Keeping Your Money Safe While On Vacation

When it comes to spending money on vacation you have three main choices. Credit cards, cash, or traveler’s checks.

Credit cards are the safest way to pay for your vacation. If they are stolen you have limited liability and they are easily replaced. The ability to dispute the charges with the credit card company give you protection against poor merchandise or service.

Many transactions such as hotel reservations and car rentals are impossible without a credit card. When traveling overseas you can usually get the best exchange rates using your plastic but beware. The credit card companies have been charging high fees for the privilege and usually don’t tell you ahead of time.

The downside to credit cards is they can be unreliable, especially overseas. You can be in for a real hassle if your card is declined by the merchant or a foreign ATM machine. The chances of this happening are real and increase dramatically when traveling to second and third world countries.

When you use your credit card, don’t let it out of your sight even if it means following your waiter to the register. Before you put the card back in your wallet make sure that it belongs to you.

Cash is the most reliable way to carry money but of course, it is the least safe. American cash is accepted everywhere and you can often haggle for better prices with cash.

But there are many dangers when carrying cash. The most obvious is that it makes you a target for thieves. Don’t flash it around.

Hide your cash on your person but not in a waist money belt. Find or make a pocket on the inside of your clothing where it is difficult to get at. Then keep a small amount in a spare wallet for your walking around cash. You can keep one credit card in with the cash and it doesn’t hurt to throw in some other expendable junk to make it look good. This is what you hand over if you are robbed.

Don’t keep all your cash on your person. Hide some in your personal belongings. Be inventive about finding good hiding places. The hotel safe is a good place to stash a portion. If you spread it around then you won’t be cleaned out in one shot.

Travelers checks are arguably the best way form of money for your vacation with. You can use them almost as readily as cash and they can be easily replaced.

The best way to handle your vacation money is with a combination of all three methods. )

Razor Burned

It should have been a simple task. Just go to the drugstore and buy a razor. Not even one of those highly complex computerized electric razors you need an advanced degree in electrical engineering to operate, just a plain old manual model with which I could joyfully hack away at my face. It was not to be.

Now, Im a simple guy. I try to abide by the aptly named Occams razor principle of science, which basically says that the simpler things are, the better. Now I find myself wondering just how many blades Occams razor had.

I dont know if youve noticed, but the evolution of manual razors seems to be roughly following the same path as home stereo equipment. In the fifties, you had a razor with just one blade, just as you had a transistor radio with that one tinny-sounding speaker. Then came the invention of stereo, and the two bladed razor was born. Two speakers and a subwoofer, three blades. Quadrophonic sound, four blades. Now we are up to Dolby 5.1 surround sound and a razor with an incredible five blades on one side and one on the other. Thats right, there are now so many blades on your razor that they cant even fit them all on the same side.

Where will it end? Is there a theoretical limit on the number of blades one razor can support? I, for one, believe that we are very close to the blade event horizon. Critical mass has almost been reached. It used to be that I would occasionally give myself a slight nick while shaving. One false move now and Ill be getting tips from Michael Jackson on which nose to buy.

Perhaps the razor companies just dont understand the concept. Maybe someone needs to tell them that we are just trying to take the hair off of our faces, not make julienne potatoes for a society luncheon while we shower. Its only a matter of time before someone comes out with a razor that has one blade for every hair follicle on your face, so you can shave with just one stroke and then spend the rest of the morning trying to find your lips.

No more, I say. Its time to release myself from the tyranny of blades. This morning I gave myself a clean , comfortable shave without using any blades at all.

Now I just need a new string for my weed whacker.

How Much Does Childcare Cost and What’s the Difference?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:32 pm

How much does childcare.cost and what’s the difference?

The cost of childcare is an important consideration for families in the UK. Childcare costs vary significantly depending on the type of childcare you choose.

Prices vary according to the type of childcare that you need, the hours that you need childcare for and the experience and qualifications that you’re chosen candidate has. Location also affects the price of childcare, for example Nanny’s in London cost considerably more than Nannies in Birmingham or Nannies in Manchester.

Typically babysitters and au pairs are the least expensive type of child care with the least experience and qualifications but that’s not to say they won’t provide excellent care and be perfect solution to your childcare needs. Live in Nannies in London are highly sought after and provide the most expensive childcare. They provide round the clock care for families, with high levels of experience, up to date CRB check and childcare training.

Each childcare candidate on FAB has the option of displaying their regular hourly, weekly, or monthly charges on their profile page and each candidate includes the type of childcare or domestic service that they can provide.

For example, Jodie is a childcarer based in Harpenden. She is available for a number of child care jobs in the Harpenden area including Nanny live out, Nanny part time, Babysitter, Afterschool Nanny, Nanny Housekeeper, and Housekeeper. She has ten years experience and charges £7 per hour.

If you are returning to work or just need extra help with your little ones, the following should be considered before beginning your childcare search as it will greatly affect the cost of your childcare:

How much can I afford to spend on childcare?

How often do I need childcare?

Do I want childcare in my own home or away from my home?

Do I want someone with many years of experience or am I happy with an inexperienced au pair?

Am I willing to have my childcare live in my home or do I prefer my families privacy?

The age of your children, a baby requires much more specialised care than a teenager.

Where do you live? Childcare costs in London are higher than say Birmingham simply because the cost of living is higher.

Am I eligible for Working Tax Credits or Childcare Vouchers?

Whatever type of child care you need and wherever you are, it’s important to discuss and agree your requirements and the costs with your childcare candidate in advance.

www.findababysitter.com connects parents and agencies with childcare by postcode and by the type of care, experience or qualifications that they require, or can provide, either in their own home or just up their street.
Findababysitter is a community service, a place where people living close by can find each other and the childcare they need, safely, easily and affordably.
